MCM now plays back all programs on the DVCPro tape format used by the professionals to display the sharpest images available. Our new system uses three Panasonic AJ-CM32 microcart towers and is controlled by Leightronix MVP-2000. Each of the three towers (one for each channel) can hold up to 32 tapes for a total of 96 hours of continuous playback. This allows MCM to continue its 24/7 playback capability. We can also use this system to playback PSAs and short presentations from each channels' own server at MPEG-2 standards. And while the old system filled an entire room with playback VCRs, our new system accommodates more tapes while taking up just a fraction of the space in our Head End.
MCM also has a dynamic Community Bulletin Board, also controlled in our Head End. The "CBB" lists non-profit community events, as well as information regarding health, government services, and information from local law enforcement.
